We're in Dushanbe, Tadjikistan, as we speak. Rolled in late last night after a horror drive from the Pamirs on the worst road we've had this trip. Our poor car was stretched to the limits. We feel quite ashamed to hand it over in the state it is in, then again, it got us this far. We'll post all the stuff we've compiled over the last couple of weeks when our own batteries have been refueled (where's the McDonalds?!). Thanks for the support!

Sorry for the small amount of decent updates, it's the lack of internet, not the lack of motivation. We've written 2 updates, but are unable to upload em due to the lack of wifi since leaving Turkey. At the moment we are in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. Tomorrow we'll travel to the Uzbek-Kyrgyz border, and the day after we will start the Pamir route. We're looking forward to it.

About what we've done. Some catching up to the schedule in Turkey, some insane driving in Iran and just being amazed about how stupendous a country can be in Turkmenistan. Some great pictures though. Bokhara and Samarkand are beautifull,if anyone is looking for a holiday location.

Vandaag is een gedwongen rustdag. De eerste. Beetje onwennig is het wel, zo zonder auto. Milko staat gelukkig goed opgeborgen in de  Daihatsugarage van Sakarya. Daar gaan morgen enkele plaatselijke helden met onze versnellingsbak aan de slag. Godzijdank. Want een Milko zonder versnellingen is een beetje als een geblesseerde Arjen Robben; vooral heel irritant. 

In plaats van een dag in de auto moeten we dus verplicht chillen. Daarvoor hebben we van onze gastheer Mehmet (de meest gastvrije man die je je kunt voorstellen, we mogen zelfs nog een nacht in zijn bovenhuis slapen) twee begeleiders meegekregen; zijn beste vrienden Sikrit en Osman, twee abolute toppers. Hun vriendelijkheid is bijna grenzeloos en het is zeker geen straf om met hen op stap te gaan.  read more »

Comrades!

Milko seems to need a little time to adapt to lfe in Asia. The grumbling has turned into stuttering and spitting out all sorts of liquid. We rolled the car into Sakarya, and walked into the first garage we saw: there we met Mehmet, who generously invited us to stay at his place and have a nice barbeque with his friends.

The car needs some serious fixing, which we're hoping to have done on Monday (when shops open again) so that we're back on track on Tuesday to make up for lost time. Today, then, an obligatory day-off. We're not complaining. More when we're back on the road!
