Rustin Seamrot

Thanks for taking the time to visit our Roof of the World rally page.

Car

The plan is to drive our LHD Maestro to Kurgan-Tyube, where it will be sold off, and the money raised will go to SWORDE-Teppa.

The car will be subject to quite a few inhospitable environments, ranging from the snow and cold of the Arctic circle this winter, to hot deserts and some of the highest mountain passes in the world en route to Tajikistan. Lets hope its up to it!

Team

Currently the team is Andy Chambers and me, Danny Roper. I graduated from MMU in 2008 with a degree in Computing, and proceeded to drive to Mongolia on the charity rally that summer, raising money for the CDPF. Andy has been a good friend of mine for over 10 years now (since secondary school), he is a qualified maths teacher. We travelled 6000miles together around Scandinavia although Andy has only recently passed his driving test.

Sponsors

We are looking for individuals and businesses to sponsor us. All the money donated will be going straight to charity, and not us; we will be covering all our expenses such as the car, fuel and visas.

If you are a business and would like to sponsor us, just get in touch through our website. Your logo and website would look great on the car :) We are planning on getting some press coverage so you might get something back from it. You can also use our progress and photos to attract interest too.

I've thrown my entire wage packet for the week into the pot so dig deep :)

See here for information on getting your branding/logo on the car.

Charity

We are raising money for a charity called SWORDE-Teppa, which is an international development organisation specialising in sustainable development projects in Tajikistan, the poorest country in central Asia.

Using their specialist local knowledge, they run poverty reduction and improvement programmes which are wanted and needed by the community. They are located in Kurgan-Tyube, about 100km south of the capital Dushanbe.

Their programmes are run from the English & Education Centre. The Centre was opened in June 2006 by HRH The Duke of York.

SWORDE-Teppa supports local kindergartens, orphanages, schools, universities and the local community by implementing and supporting diverse projects. These are linked together to reduce poverty and lead to a healthier and more fulfilled life for all the community.

Their projects include specialist training and other activities relating to health, sport & leisure, IT, scientific research on conservation and environmental issues and much more – all on an incredibly tight budget. They have helped to build capacity and capability of central and local government, regional and local groups and companies, and individuals of all ages and all walks of life in Tajikistan.
