Pete Barnett

Pete (and Mongolian hat) at Mongolian Tsagaan Sar 2009Pete (and Mongolian hat) at Mongolian Tsagaan Sar 2009

Go Help is very sad to share with you that Pete Barnett, a valued volunteer for the charity, passed away on Thursday 5th April.

Pete joined Go Help at the beginning of 2008 and helped the charity launch its first fundraising event, the Mongolia Charity Rally. His tireless work in building and maintaining Go Help's technical systems and website helped the charity to get to where it is today. Pete also went above and beyond the call of duty, maintaining regular contact with teams while on their various rallies across the globe, and even texting them with advice when they got stuck at far flung borders. In recognition of Pete's outstanding support for Go Help, Pete was appointed to the Board of Trustees of Go Help in 2011.

Go Help has lost a very important member of the team but more importantly we have lost a good friend who will be sadly missed.

To honour Pete's dedication to the charity, Go Help is dedicating it's Mongolian mobile library project to his name. Pete gave the idea his blessing in January.

Should you wish to make a donation in honour of Pete's work for Go Help please consider making a donation to Ashgate Hospice in Chesterfield. You can donate online here.

If you would like to send any wishes to Pete’s family please email info@gohelp.org.uk and we will pass your message on.

Rally reunion and welcome to ralliers for 2011

We're pleased to annouce that Charity Rallies is holding a reunion on the 11th December at the Road Trip Bar in London.  Event officially starts at 3pm (we'll be tinkering around inside beforehand setting things up).

Road Trip bar is centrally located - near Old St tube website is: http://www.roadtripbar.com/

This is a great opportunity for people from both Mongolia and ROTW to have a catch up, gab about adventures past and future and for us to show some videos and give out some prizes.

For people signed up to 2011 Rallies - this is the best chance to ask people who have done it your questions!

Looking forward to seeing you there!

The Charity Rallies team

The 2010 Roof of the World Rally is underway!

The 2010 edition of the Roof of the World Rally is underway, and already it is turning out to be an epic year! Teams started out from Greenwich Park in London on the 3rd July, being waved off on their adventures by friends, relatives, sponsors and ambassadors. A mere two days later teams started to roll into the bar in Budapest already filled with stories of adventure!

Sadly, the Rally has had its first vehicle loss - when the 'Tajikivan' managed to break down four times on the way to Dover - the fourth time sadly being terminal. So whilst the Tajikivan was sent back to Cornwall on the back of a lorry - the team members jumped in to team TBCs people carrier, now full to the brim with two teams in one car, headed all the way to Tajikistan...  read more »

New Sponsors!

Charity Rallies are extremely chuffed to announce a couple of sponsors for this years Rallies

We would like to welcome on board two excellent companies that have generously decided to support us this year.

Firstly,  Netparts (http://www.netparts.co.uk) Ltd are sponsoring both the Mongolia and Roof of the World Rally - and as part of that they have kindly offered a 20% discount for ralliers AND all teams this year will get complementary torches and air fresheners (which after a while with no showers I'm sure these will be greatly appreciated)!  read more »
